If you go in from the front you can get about 6 inches max !!!. I used a air grinder with a carbide bit :). If you want to do the job right you must remove the top 3 freeze plugs and the rear plug to get to the ridges in the back. It took me about 4 hours but i got about a 3/4 inch hole all the way to the back. I also smoothened out the edges using the top freeze plug openings to get to the individual water jackets. In the end i had about 2 lbs of ground block. For the second block i simply had my machine shop drill straight thru using a 3/4 inch dia drill on a huge drill press. Took them about 15 minutes and 35 bux :) Ofcourse they thought i was crazy - LOL BTW don't go over 3/4 inch because you might damage the water jacket. There is not a lot of room back there. Harry
